Travel & STAY

GETTING IN

We recommend flying into Porto lnternational Airport (OPO). The official Name is Francisco Sá Carneiro Airport. Our wedding venue is a 15 minute drive from the airport.

Travel tip: Summer is the high season in Europe. Please make your flight arrangements as soon as possible for the best rates and availability. We recommend using Google Flights to track the cheapest flights.

Getting around

Bolt, Uber, and FreeNow are all available at the airport, in and around Porto. There are also several car rental options at the airport. If you are feeling more adventurous, you can take the Metro Line E (purple line) from airport to downtown Porto.

where to stay

We will be staying at the Rebello Hotel in Vila Nova de Gaia across from Porto on the Douro River, 5 minutes from our welcome event location, 30 minutes from the wedding venue, and 25 minutes from OPO airport. There is also a Hilton a few minutes away from our hotel that we recommend.

In the later afternoon, you can expect warm and sunny for the welcome event and outdoor ceremony (79–90°F / 26–32°C) with a pleasantly cooler evening (72–75°F / 22–24°C). Things to do in Porto & Vila Nova de Gaia

Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia are sister cities divided by the Douro River and connected by the iconic Dom Luís I Bridge. Our hotel is in Gaia, just a 10–15 minute walk across the bridge to Porto’s historic center.

We recommend you do at least these 5 things:

1. Walk the Bridge – The best way to move between Gaia and Porto, and an experience in itself with amazing views!
2. Taste Port Wine in Gaia – Tour the world-famous cellars (Sandeman, Graham’s, Churchill’s) and sip with river views. We will host our welcome event on Friday at Churchill's where you can taste their famous Port wines!
3. Eat Pastel de Nata at Manteigaria – Porto’s most beloved spot for warm, fresh custard tarts. Mike and Alex have eaten MANY!
4. Explore Ribeira (Porto) – A UNESCO World Heritage area with colorful houses, cafés, and lively squares.
5. Watch the Sunset at Jardim do Morro (Gaia) – A hillside garden just across the bridge with postcard views of Porto. You can get there by cable car as an added bonus!
